My Take
Tor Johnson is exactly the kind of unrepeatable figure I love. A Swedish-born professional wrestler billed as the Super Swedish Angel, he reinvented himself into a beloved fixture of B-movies, several of them famously directed by Ed Wood. His face alone is unforgettable, and there is something deeply human in how a so-called bad cinema becomes cherished across decades. Critics may have dismissed those films, but enduring affection is its own verdict. I admire performers who refuse to fit a mold, and Johnson, looming and gentle and strange, is cult history at its warmest.
