Utaha

Replacing the voice of a well-known group may be the worst deal in music. Whatever you do gets measured against somebody else. Utaha took that job in 2021, stepping in as the second vocalist of Wednesday Campanella, and she was barely twenty at the time. Born in Tokyo in 2001, she also works as a fashion model and an actor, a combination that usually blurs a performer's identity. Hers has not blurred. What I respect most is that she never tried to imitate her predecessor. Different voice, different presence, no apology offered. She stands there less like someone who inherited the role and more like someone who quietly rewrote it.
