My Take
What I admire most about Antonio Aguilar is that he refused to be just a voice. Over 150 albums and 120-plus films would be a full life on their own, but he chose to take Mexican charreria horsemanship to the world and earned the title El Charro de Mexico. To me that is the mark of someone who saw himself as a cultural steward, not merely an entertainer. The Hollywood star is nice, but I keep picturing him upright in the saddle, singing. That image of dignity, of carrying a tradition on horseback, is what makes him unforgettable to me.
