My Take
For me, Abraham will forever be Salieri; that face curdling with envy and worship of Mozart in Amadeus is one of the great screen performances, and the Oscar it won him in 1985 was earned to the last frame. What I admire even more is that he never let one towering role define the rest of him. A Pittsburgh-born, stage-forged character actor, he kept working for decades in parts big and small, recently reminding younger audiences of his range. There's a real humility in an Oscar winner who still happily plays the supporting role. I find that kind of longevity genuinely moving.
