My Take

Harry Warner deserves more than a footnote. A Polish immigrant's son who, with his three brothers, built Warner Bros. from nothing and ran it as president until 1956, he is one of the genuine architects of Hollywood. The Honorary Academy Award and Walk of Fame star are nice, but what impresses me is the nerve to push the entire industry forward, most famously toward sound. So much of what we take for granted at the movies traces back to risks people like him took. I find that kind of foundational, institution-building legacy quietly heroic.
