My Take
Lizabeth Scott fascinates me as one of film noir's defining faces. Born in Scranton in 1921, she brought that famously smoky voice and a shadowed, dangerous beauty to the genre's smoky monochrome world, earning the title of the most beautiful face of 1940s and 50s noir. I am drawn to the moral ambiguity those films traded in, and Scott embodied it perfectly: alluring, guarded, never quite trustworthy. From model to singer to leading lady with a Walk of Fame star, she had range. She passed in 2015, but her image still flickers through the fog of noir's golden age.
