My Take

Lorraine Toussaint is a commanding presence who can flip from warmth to menace in a single look, and her turn as Vee on Orange Is the New Black is one of the most genuinely frightening antagonists that show ever had. What I admire is how much theatrical discipline she brings, the kind of Juilliard-trained control that lets her fill a scene without raising her voice. Her work on Any Day Now earned real acclaim, and she has quietly built one of the more respected character-actress careers around. Every time she shows up in something, I trust she'll elevate the material. She deserves more leading roles.
