My Take

As someone with a soft spot for European power metal, Timo Kotipelto is a name I respect instantly. Fronting Stratovarius since 1994, he's been the soaring voice on a band that helped define the Finnish melodic metal sound, and the fact that he also runs his own project, Kotipelto, tells me he's an artist who needs more than one outlet. What I admire is the staying power: keeping a high, demanding vocal style intact across decades isn't luck, it's discipline. He feels like one of those musicians more beloved by genre fans than the mainstream, and honestly that's often the better legacy.
