My Take

Ferrera is one of those rare performers I respect as much for what she builds as for what she plays. Winning an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Ugly Betty was huge, but what stays with me is how deliberately she's used that platform, directing, producing, and speaking up for Latina representation when it cost her something. Her work behind the camera tells me she was never content just to be cast; she wanted to change who gets cast at all. That blend of warmth and conviction is hard to fake, and I trust nearly every project she lends her name to.
