David Attenborough

David Attenborough is, in my opinion, the greatest broadcaster who ever lived, and I do not say that lightly. A century old as of 2026, he has narrated the natural world for more than seventy years without ever sounding jaded. What strikes me is the tone: never preachy, never condescending, always that of a man genuinely delighted by a bird of paradise or a deep-sea creature. He turned wonder into a public service. The medals and prizes — the Kalinga Prize, the CBE and the rest — feel almost beside the point. Generations learned to love the planet through his voice, and I doubt anyone will ever replace him.
