My Take

Eddie Peng is one of the most charismatic leading men in Chinese-language cinema, and I never get tired of watching him commit physically to a role. The Taiwanese actor famously bulked up for Unbeatable, training as an actual MMA fighter, and that dedication shows in everything from Operation Mekong to Wu Kong. What I appreciate is that he started as a model and pop idol yet kept pushing toward serious, demanding work. Hear Me showed his tender side, the action films his ferocity. He's matinee-handsome, sure, but he's also one of the hardest-working performers in the region, and it shows.
