Haruna Nagaishi

Haruna Nagaishi is a basketball player out of Kumamoto — and honestly, 173cm is a solid frame to build a career on, the kind of height that just looks right on a court. What stands out to me is the choice to go all the way to Kanoya University of Physical Education, which is genuinely one of Japan's most serious sports institutions; you don't end up there by accident, you end up there because basketball is the thing. She went on to represent Japan at the 2005 Universiade and the East Asian Games, the only university student picked for the latter, and played for Japan Airlines and Chanson Cosmetics before retiring in 2012.
