My Take

Len Lesser is my favorite kind of actor: the character man who steals a scene without ever asking for the lead. Landing the iconic Uncle Leo on Seinfeld in his late sixties is a beautiful reminder that recognition can arrive late and still matter enormously. I find something deeply reassuring in a career built on craft rather than fame, on showing up and reliably making everything funnier. His Bronx-bred persistence and that endearing, slightly cranky face left a mark on me. He passed in 2011, but performers like him are the quiet backbone of every show I love.
