My Take

Dev Anand is, for me, simply one of cinema's grand figures. Across six decades and more than a hundred films he acted, directed, wrote and produced, embodying the golden age of Hindi cinema with a charm that never soured into self-parody. The Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award only formalize what audiences already felt. What moves me most is the romance of a life given over entirely to film, that stubborn refusal to slow down even in old age. You cannot tell the story of Indian cinema without him, and that depth of devotion strikes me as genuinely rare.
