Zach Neto

I'll be honest — when I first heard about Zach Neto, I had to do a double take. This kid from Miami was born in 2001, went to Campbell University (not exactly a blue-chip baseball factory), and still got drafted by the Angels in the first round of the 2022 draft. That alone tells you scouts saw something special. He stepped into the shortstop role in Anaheim and immediately looked like he belonged, with the kind of smooth, instinctive play at short that you usually only see from veterans twice his age. The Angels have had their share of rough seasons, but watching Neto develop in real time feels like one of the genuinely exciting storylines on a team that desperately needs them. He's got all the tools — and the trajectory — of someone you'll be watching for a long, long time.
