My Take
For me Patrick McGoohan will forever be Number Six, but reducing him to one iconic role undersells the man. Born in Astoria to Irish parents and raised across Ireland and England, he grafted his way up through 1950s British theater into stardom as Danger Man's John Drake, then went further, writing and directing his own work. Two Emmys for guest acting, in both comedy and drama, signal a versatility most leading men never touch. There was a fierce, anti-authoritarian intelligence in everything he did. He died in 2009, but I still regard him as a singular, ahead-of-his-time artist worth studying.
